Nate and his wife, Corrine, have 3 active boys. His passion for coaching is rooted in the relationships and experiences he has had with coaches and peers in the gym over the years.
When their first son was born, they realized they wanted to set a better example for their children. Since High School they both fell into the “too busy” trap or as Nate would say, he just became "lazy". Corrine, being post-partum, had some baby weight she wanted to lose, and Nate said he seemed to have gained pound for pound during her pregnancy. A photo from their newborn session with their first child was the wake-up call that he personally needed. Seeing himself in that state of early sickness genuinely scared him into action.
They both hired a personal trainer and lost a combined 80+ lbs within 6 months through nutrition changes and consistency in the gym. Then, they joined CrossFit in January of 2015, and immediately recognized the difference between working out and training. Nate knew he wanted to become a coach. In CrossFit, there seemed to be endless skills to acquire, challenges to face and goals to achieve. That has kept things fresh, challenging and exciting for years.
Recently, when his older boys started playing sports, he started coaching their teams. It absolutely ignited a passion for coaching young humans and teaching them about the beauty of doing something difficult on purpose. After getting his L1, Nate started to coach at Honor Fitness, and his passion for fitness and helping people achieve their goals has only grown. He currently coaches CrossFit part time before or after his day job in Medical Administration. He also coaches a youth athlete-focused small group at Honor Fitness called Honor KidSport and will be involved in the launch and coaching of our CrossFit Kids program.
I love this community and am looking forward to being a part of it for years to come.
Life will never be easy.
It will always be hard.
But we can choose our hard.
Pick wisely.
