Austin began his coaching career while obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science at Winona State University. Before graduating he interned with strength and conditioning programs, the most notable being the University of Minnesota. During his junior year, Austin enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard as a medic which led to the opportunity of being an instructor for the Comprehensive Soldier Fitness Course. After graduation, Austin accepted a position at Velocity Training Center as a strength and performance coach. In his time there, he coached professional hockey players (NHL) and college hockey players for all of their off-season strength and conditioning work.
Austin was a competitive rugby player, stepped away due to injury, which led to his wife, Samantha, convincing him to try CrossFit to fuel his competitive side. He became passionate about the lifestyle, training, and community, and eventually made the transition to Head Trainer at CrossFit Mendota, designing all programming and instructing members and coaches. During his time there, he coached classes, private lessons, physical rehabilitation sessions, and incorporated a sports training program working with different high school and youth sports.
Austin coaches for Blacklisted HQ, which is an individualized remote training company, where he designs individual training programs. This includes but is not limited to competitive CrossFit athletes, everyday CrossFit members who want to work on specific skills, and individuals looking to get ready for the Military or the Fire Academy.
Now, as Austin pursues his dream of opening up Honor Fitness with his beautiful wife, he is looking to implement all of the knowledge and experience he has gained through his 10+ years of education and coaching to make Honor Fitness THE gym North East of the Twin Cities.
